ACE ACTION LEADS TO SEKO IPTV CEASING OPERATIONS

February 16, 2022

Takedown marks the first of its kind in Turkey

Istanbul, Turkey. Feb. 16, 2022 – The Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE), the world’s leading coalition dedicated to protecting the dynamic legal ecosystem and reducing digital piracy, today announced the closure of Seko IPTV, marking its first major operation in Turkey.

Seko offered illegal streaming subscription services to consumers and to resellers who further launched their own illegal services using Seko as a content source. It first became active in 2016 and had a very extensive catalog of infringing content including international channels, movies, and TV series episodes in multiple languages, affecting all ACE members.

“Historically, Turkey has been the base to many operators behind international illegal services,” said Jan van Voorn, Executive Vice President and Chief of Global Content Protection for the Motion Picture Association. “After successfully shutting down Seko IPTV, ACE fully intends to stay active throughout the region to protect our members’ content.”

After identifying the operator, ACE executed an action near Istanbul in Esenyurt, Turkey, followed by cooperation from the operator.

Currently, all domains associated with Seko TV have been transferred to ACE and are redirecting to the Watch Legally section on the ACE website.

The theft of digital content harms both local and foreign films and businesses, threatens jobs, undermines investment, reduces tax contributions to governments, and stifles creativity. For more information, please visit www.alliance4creativity.com.
