Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment Welcomes Cavea Plus as Newest Member

November 21, 2022

LOS ANGELES – The Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE), the world’s leading coalition dedicated to protecting the dynamic legal ecosystem for creative content, today welcomed Cavea Plus, a streaming service based in the country of Georgia, as its newest member.

Cavea Plus, the only legal streaming service in Georgia, was recently launched by the Cavea Cinemas theater chain. ACE and Cavea have a long history of working together in Georgia to address local piracy concerns and protect intellectual property rights.

“Cavea Plus shares ACE’s deep understanding that piracy poses a direct threat to the media and entertainment industry, and we are pleased to welcome them to our global network,” said Charles Rivkin, Chairman and CEO of the Motion Picture Association and chairman of ACE. “ACE’s impact is reaching new markets almost every day, thanks to the growing network of media and entertainment companies that are joining our global campaign to combat piracy and protect the creative economy.”

“We’re honored to join ACE, an organization that is making strides in protecting intellectual rights and boasts members that lead the content creation and streaming industry. Georgia will now be amongst the countries that represent ACE. For our part, Cavea Plus is committed to developing legal streaming industry in Georgia. We believe it’s the only way to unlock the potential of Georgia’s creative sector and attract interest from international partners to support the development of the local film and TV market,” said Salome Kuprashvili, General Manager of Cavea Plus.

Piracy websites in Georgia, a country of 4 million people, have drawn more than 500,000 users since they started operating. Data shows the biggest piracy website drew about 11 million monthly visits. Piracy websites represent a majority of the top 10 Georgian websites overall, based on total traffic.

Now in its sixth year, ACE has consistently grown its global membership base; the coalition is now comprised of 42 members, including Cavea Plus, with more to join in the coming weeks.

ACE is supported by a network of experts operating in high-tech investigations and law enforcement, in partnership with local governments and law enforcement agencies around the world and international organizations like Interpol and Europol, to take on the full supply chain of pirated content.

ACE was founded in 2017 by the MPA and many of the world’s leading media and technology companies to combine efforts and resources to jointly combat the threat and prevalence of online piracy. ACE’s governing board is comprised of the MPA’s six members – Disney, NBCUniversal, Netflix, Paramount, Sony Pictures, and Warner Bros. – as well as Amazon and Apple TV+.  Since its creation, ACE has successfully led or participated in thousands of global enforcement actions, averaging several dozens of actions a month against illegal streaming services and sources of unauthorized content and their operators.
