FILI.CC SHUTS DOWN IN POLAND

November 13, 2020

Poland – The Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE) congratulates law enforcement in Poland for convicting the operator of Fili.cc, one of the most popular infringing sites in Poland.

Fili.cc has been convicted to a suspended prison sentence of one year for violating Polish copyright law and for money laundering. The operator, who pleaded guilty, is also instructed to compensate affected rights holders for a total amount of over $12 million USD.

“ACE congratulates all parties involved in this important case including the local police force. This is a significant result for local rights holders and will set strong precedent in Europe as we continue to fight to reduce piracy in all its forms across the continent,” said Jan van Voorn, Executive Vice President and Chief of Global Content Protection for the MPA.
